Personal Support Worker Bridging Program  

Role and Responsibilities   

Personal Support Workers assist people with daily personal needs as they deal with effects of injuries, illness or aging. Graduates will be eligible to work at hospitals, nursing homes, senior homes, community care centers, social and family services etc.  

Certificate program   

The program is intended for Health Care Aides and Home Support Workers with or without a formal certificate that have Canadian experience as a Personal Support Worker (PSW). Students may be foreign trained provided they are working or have worked within the last 3 years in a Personal Support Worker capacity in Canada. The Program has been developed and accredited by NACC.

  • Cognitive Impairment & Mental Health Issues
  • Assisting to Manage Ongoing Conditions
  • Assisting a Person Who is Dying and Their Family
  • Review
  • School Supervised Clinical Placement (if required)

Externship (Off-site placement)  

As a mandatory component of our programs, all Medix students are required to complete an off-site externship placement. Placements occur at various locations throughout the communities surrounding our campuses.  This essential module allows students to exercise the skills learned in class, learn specific applications and to further enhance their learning experience in the selected facilities.
