Introduction to Outlook and PowerPoint

Course Outline                

This workshop introduces you to Outlook and PowerPoint 2007 software orientation. During this workshop, you will learn to personalize Outlook, e-mail basics, use advance e-mail tools, and manage mail with folders, contact basics, advanced contact management, calendar basics, calendar management, managing meetings and managing tasks.  Students will learn PowerPoint essentials, presentation basics, working with text, designing a presentation, creating smart art graphics, adding graphics and media clips to a presentation, securing a sharing a presentation and delivering a presentation.  In this course, you will move from a beginner to an intermediate level of Outlook and PowerPoint understanding.

Course Duration and Schedule

  • 20 hours (2 classes Outlook, 2 classes PowerPoint; each 5 hours)
  • 4 consecutive Saturdays

Course Content: Microsoft Outlook

  • Creating, sending, reading and replying to messages
  • Working with an attachment, automated replies, security settings  
  • Forwarding and Personalizing messages
  • Deleting and archiving outlook items
  • Creating and modifying contacts and distribution lists
  • Using electronic business cards and creating a secondary address book
  • Managing appointments
  • Creating/modifying and re-occurring meetings
  • Customizing, sharing and viewing other’s calendar
  • Modifying and completing tasks

Course Outline: PowerPoint

  • Working with an existing presentation
  • Creating a new blank presentation, creating a presentation from template
  • Organizing slides and adding notes to slides
  • Previewing a presentation on screen and printing presentations
  • Formatting characters, paragraphs and presentation with themes
  • Changing slide background/slide layout
  • Setting up slide transitions and animating your slides
  • Adding smart art to a slide and modifying smart art graphics
  • Organizing objects on slides and working with comments
  • Making sure presentation is safe to share
  • Adjusting slide orientation and size
  • Customizing the audience handout
