What To Expect From The Intra-Oral Dental Assistant Program

The objective of the Intra-Oral Dental Assisting program is to train students to attain skills and demonstrate competence in essential dental office procedures and laboratory techniques.

These areas of study include preliminary examination procedures, assisting at chair side using fourhanded dentistry, charting, appointment scheduling, keeping patient records and sterilizing instruments. The assistant can also expose and develop radiographs. Students receive extensive training in all intra-oral skills.

Upon successful completion of training, graduates are qualified to assume positions as dental assistants in dental offices and clinics, performing lab techniques, office procedures and intra-oral duties.

The School is a H.A.R.P. approved facility and as such, graduates are qualified to take and expose radiographs.

Graduates of this program are also eligible to sit for both the "Certified Dental Assistant (C.D.A.)" examination, which is given by the Ontario Dental Nurses and Assistants Association (O.D.N.A.A.) and the exam given by the National Dental Assisting Examining Board (N.D.A.E.B.). These examinations are at the option and expense of the student.
