Medical Office Assistant  

Medical Office Assistant is an important career in the growing healthcare industry. Medix School has designed this diploma program to enable graduates to demonstrate a high level of competence in medical office administrative and clinical skills.  These components are necessary for employment in a health care related setting.  The Medical Office Assistant program includes patient billing, health information management, patient data collection, keyboarding skills, medical transcription, creating and maintaining data bases, Microsoft Office®  (Word™ , Excel™, PowerPoint™, Outlook™, Publisher™), appointment scheduling, written correspondence and telephone techniques.

Diploma Program

During this program students will be examining the professional role of the MOA,  aseptic techniques, medical office procedures, organizational skills, patient interaction, and communication styles. Also students explore the human body’s systems throughout the learning modules by focusing on structure, function and terminology.  Students also receive training to excel in computer skills.

Course Prerequisite

  • Gr. 12 OSSD or Mature Student Status
  • Successful completion of entrance evaluation
  • Admissions Interview
  • English proficiency

Externship (Off-site placement)

As a mandatory component of our programs, all Medix students are required to complete an off-site externship placement. Placements occur at various locations such as walk-in clinics, hospitals, medical offices  and community health centres.  This essential module allows students to apply the skills learned in class, learn specific applications and to further enhance their learning experience in the medical setting.

Tuition & Financial Aid

All tuition costs include books, lab fees and CPR. Financial assistance may be available for those who qualify. Students are encouraged to visit our Business Affairs department for any questions related to tuition and/or financial aid.
